The second-generation winner takes on a new role at the legendary Manoir.

Napa Valley, CA (January 29, 2021) – The iconic Napa Valley Vineyards is called Maya Dalla Valley Winery. The winery’s current director, Maya, succeeded her mother and world-renowned winemaker Naoko Dalla Valle, who will continue to provide advice and oversee other aspects of the business.

Dalla Valle is not only my family’s legacy, but also my home, says Maia. I am honored to embody my parents’ work in the second generation, where I have the opportunity to realize my vision while maintaining the values that began our family’s journey.

Maya is a talented winemaker who learned her craft in some of the most prestigious wineries in the world. Before she joined the family business, Maya was ready to earn a living. She holds a Masters in Viticulture and Oenology from Cornell University and a Masters in Commerce and Science of Viticulture and Oenology from Bordeaux Sciences Agro. Maya learned from the best and gained invaluable practical experience in winemaking at Ornelia and Masseto, Bodegas Rolland, Petrus and Château Latour.

Maya is a talented winemaker whose amazing instincts and unique ideas usher in a new era for our vineyard, says Naoko. We are delighted with this new chapter and look forward to the further development of the Dalla Valle vineyards, always with quality and precision at the forefront.

Under Maya’s leadership, the winery will continue its legacy of producing exceptional wines focused on the terroir, thanks to true craftsmanship that has an impact on each grape variety. Maya will also make its mark through positive changes, such as the introduction of biodynamic winemaking methods and a project with the famous Italian winery Ornellaia. Andy Erickson will continue to work as a wine consultant at Dalla Valle Vineyards.

Founded in 1986 by Naoko and her late husband Gustav Dalla Valle, Dalla Valle Vineyards is one of the most prestigious family wineries in the Napa Valley, located on the famous eastern slopes of Oakville. Recognized as one of the most famous in the world, Dalla Valle’s vineyards produce wines of exceptional complexity and character year after year. In 2017, Naoko was joined at Dalla Valle by her daughter Maya, making it a truly multi-generational vineyard.
