Another charming and delicious wine from master winemaker Clark Smith, the Ricci Saint Laurent Vineyard.

92 points. 27 months in the barrel. 1 day of insider trading.

Any day with a Clark Smith quote is a good day in our book!

For those of you who don’t know Clark or our former cellar masters Cabernet Sauvignon and Two Jakes Cabernet, Merlot and Petite Syrah, we have a real treat today. Not only do we have wine from a man who literally wrote the book on winemaking, but we have wine made from Saint Lawrence grapes.

This variety, one of the parents of Zweigelt and possibly related to Pinot Noir, is often associated with Austria and Germany, but is thought to originate in France.

It is also known as Saint Lawrence or Saint Lawrence. The name is probably derived from Saint Laurence, the patron saint of cooks, as his annual feast day is the 10th. The month of August coincides with the ripening date of this early harvested variety. (It’s also appropriate because it’s a very culinary wine).

With its easy-drinking character, good complexity and aging qualities, it is a variety whose reputation continues to grow.

There are some very good examples that have come about in the regions mentioned above, but with success, people are starting to see this on a larger scale. For today’s wine, Clark was able to obtain very good grapes from an experimental planting at Ricci’s vineyard in Carneros.

This wine has an MSRP of $40 and is generally only available at wineries at this price. At the tasting it scored 92 points.

Thanks to today’s Operation Insider, you can buy 3 bottles for only $69.99, or $23.33 per bottle, a savings of 42%!

This keeps $63 in your pocket, after deducting the savings of our very low shipping cost of $5.

This package of three is available for shipment to the following states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, LA, MA, MD, ME, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WA, WV, WI and WY. (These states require individual permits for proposed wineries. More or fewer states may be available in future agreements).

This is a direct, time-limited offer negotiated by our friends at Wine Country Connect. The sale ends on Tuesday 3/2 at noon (PST), unless sold out earlier. Shipping cost is $5 per order, no matter how many packs of three you purchase.

When you click the Buy button above, you will be redirected to winedealmaker.com to place your order. If you do not see a built-in shopping window, click here to order. Then you can also change the number of 3-packs in your order by using the Click to Update Cart link at the top of the screen.

The Saint Laurent winemaker comes from the Dale Ricci vineyard in Carneros, Sonoma. Aged for 27 months in neutral French oak barrels.

Come out of the bottle:

Although only recently discovered by California farmers, the Saint Lawrence has been grown in France and Germany for centuries. Dale Ricci’s experimental Carneros vineyard provides the ideal climate to extend the growing season of this early variety and ensure the development of rich plum flavors and extensive structure. Its generous alcohol content and rich plum flavors invite roast chicken, sticky cheeses and ratatouille.

We, the Smiths, offer you craft wines that explore traditions beyond the mainstream.

Created and bottled by Bodegas.
11.8% alcohol

The 2015 Cave Saint Laurent begins with a truly seductive and intriguing aroma of black cherry and cranberry, plus a nice spicy, smoky, mentholated note.

Taste reveals lovely juicy fruit, supple tannins, and a soft, light mouthfeel in this medium-bodied, quite spicy wine. The vegetal notes of the nose do not emerge on tasting, but the mint and notes of dried herbs and smoke do. In fact, it’s more like a Cru Beaujolais and absolutely delicious, especially after a few hours of flying.

The finish is dry and long, with persistent juicy fruit. It’s a great way to explore the lesser known variety and a refreshing change with only 11.8% alcohol.
