Alicia Sylvester is the co-founder of the Baron Ziegler wine brand in Sonoma County.

Healdsburg, CA, 15. March 20, 2021 – Banshee Wines today announced the appointment of Alicia Sylvester as the new winemaker for the estate. Sylvester is joining Banshee from Merus in Napa. Alicia will work with CEO and co-founder Baron Ziegler to continue creating location-specific wines that match the style and character that Banshee has built its reputation on.

I started Banshee with the clear goal of making wines that taste like the best California wines, but at a price point that everyone can afford; to make distinctive wines that offer more than they should in every way, Ziegler says. Over time, we have built strong relationships with producers who I believe are some of the best wineries in California, and our wines have never been better. Alicia’s arrival at the helm of Banshee winemaking will allow us to maintain our original intentions of producing wines that are true to the grapes, style and county of Sonoma.

Sylvester’s extensive experience has given her the opportunity to taste many of the wines on Wine Spectator’s famous Top 100 list, including those from Hewitt Vineyards, Molly Duker and Fincas Patagonichas.

I’ve been lucky enough to work with some amazing brands around the world, and I can only bring my experience to Banshee, says Sylvester. I am happy to mention Sonoma County Pinot Noir, focusing on wines that fit the style and represent the best that Sonoma County has to offer.

Alicia studied at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, where she began to delve into the wine industry during college and a summer of internships in viticulture and enology. In 2011, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in Marketing and a minor in Viticulture and Winemaking. In 2015, Sylvester joined the Lancaster Estate winemaking team as an enologist and was quickly promoted to assistant winemaker a year later after graduating with a degree in viticulture from the University of California, Davis.
