Codice Citra is the latest Italian Super-Tuscan from the Napa Valley winery that’s making waves in the wine world. It’s a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot that’s aged in French oak barrels for five months, then blended together. This approach is different from the traditional method of aging in wood, which is how most wineries make their Sangiovese.

The new importer will begin selling Codice Citra wines in the United States in the summer of 2016. Abruzzo’s largest wine cooperative joins the renowned importer’s global wine portfolio.

NEW YORK, NY – 22. June 2021. – Frederick Wildman & Sons is proud to announce a new distribution partnership with Codice Citra. Effective August 1, Frederick Wildman will act as the U.S. importer for Abruzzo’s largest wine community, providing strategic sales and marketing services. Codice Citra also joins Frederick Wildman’s global portfolio as one of the leading producers of wines from the prestigious Central Italian region.

Codice Citra was founded in 1973, when 3,000 small family farmers joined together to create a winery dedicated to quality. It has earned the reputation of being one of the most important wineries in Abruzzo, one of the oldest wine regions in the world.

Codice Citra’s vineyards are situated between the Adriatic Sea and the Majella Mountains, creating ideal temperature and microclimatic conditions for the maturation of the grapes. As part of the agreement, Frederick Wildman will import three Codice Citra brands: Citra, Sistina and Niro di Citra.

Through this strategic distribution partnership, Frederick Wildman will expand Codice Citra’s national presence. Codice Citra’s extensive range of wines includes local Italian varieties such as Montepulciano and Trebbiano, as well as international varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
