Oakville, CA, 25. March 2021. – The Far Niente Wineries & Vineyards family is pleased to announce today a number of promotions within its wine and vineyard management teams. Andrew Delos was named vice president of winemaking, Michael Accurso was named winemaker of the newly formed Post & Beam, and Brooke Bobiak was named winemaker of Bella Union Winery. In addition, John McCarthy joined the company as director of viticulture. John’s role is integrated into the winemaking team and he reports directly to Andrew Delos to continue to ensure optimal vineyard selection and cultivation of the highest quality fruit for each vineyard.

We are always looking to strengthen our team and believe that fostering talent within our own ranks is the best way to ensure that each of our vineyards has a dedicated and experienced winemaker trained to meet our high quality standards, said Steve Spadarotto, CEO. Andrew, Michael and Brooke have been an integral part of our wine production for many years. We are pleased to be able to maintain the continuity and great talent that drives our vineyards and to concentrate on producing luxury wines of exceptional quality.

Andrew Delos joined the company in 2004 as an oenologist and was promoted to assistant winemaker at Nickel & Nickel shortly thereafter. In 2006, he became the founder of EnRoute, the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir winery. In 2018, Delos was promoted to director of winemaking.

Michael Accurso now becomes the winemaker for the recently launched Post & Beam and remains the winemaker for EnRoute. Previously, he was a winemaker at EnRoute and Bella Union. Accurso trained Brooke Bobiak, who started as an enologist at EnRoute and also worked as an assistant winemaker at Bella Union and Nickel & Nickel, and has now been promoted to winemaker at Bella Union.

Napa Valley is what got me into the wine business; I feel privileged to work with the best grapes in the world, notes Bobiak. I am very excited to take on this position at Bella Union and continue to work among the wineries I have called my office for the past three years.

This long-term investment in building a team of skilled winemakers has been practiced in wineries for decades. Nicole Marchesi, winemaker at Far Niente, was hired as an oenologist in 2005 and has worked as a winemaker at this iconic Napa Valley estate since 2009. Greg Allen, Dolce’s winemaker, joined Far Niente as an intern, then worked as Dolce’s assistant winemaker before being promoted to winemaking specialist in 2001.

John McCarthy was appointed director of viticulture, responsible for the cultivation of the indoor and outdoor vineyards. Previously, John worked as a vineyard manager for Antinori California, where he oversaw the cultivation of the highly prized Atlas Peak AVA fruit. Prior to that, John was the manager of Beckstoffer Vineyards. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Lake County Viticulture Commission.

Our goal has always been to grow the highest quality grapes to produce exceptional wines, says Andrew Delos. John’s arrival on board will allow us to continue to focus on what we do best, which is produce great wines year after year and dedicate ourselves to continuous improvement.

Far Niente helped create Napa Valley’s elite wine market and has been a benchmark winery for more than three decades. Dolce, the only North American winery dedicated to bottling a late harvest wine, was launched in Napa Valley in 1989. Founded in 1997, Nickel & Nickel specializes in 100% Napa Valley varietal Cabernet Sauvignon. The EnRoute wine, created in 2007 in the Russian River Valley, is dedicated to the Pinot Noir appellation. Bella Union, dedicated to Napa Valley Cabernet and located on Bella Oaks Lane in Rutherford, presented its first wine of the 2012 vintage. More recently, Post & Beam launched classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay expressions in 2020. Together these wineries form the Far Niente family of vineyards and wineries.

This year Far Niente celebrates its 40th anniversary. Anniversary of the inauguration of the Chardonnay vintage. The anniversary will be marked by a series of activities and events to be announced in 2021.
