Bâtonnage Wine Company is partnering with Nomadica, an organization that offers mentorship to women in the wine industry, to create a special edition of their canned wine. The limited-edition box set has two canned contents: a white and a red, which the companies have dubbed as the “Bottled Freedom Duo.” The wines will be the first canned wines to be released for sale in the U.S., and will be labeled with Nomadica’s logo along with the slogan “Buy a Bottle, Change the World!” all for a suggested retail price of $30.


Sonoma, Calif. (April 26, 2021) – Bâtonnage, an organization and community dedicated to raising the profile of women in winemaking and promoting equality in the industry, has partnered with Nomadica to produce a limited edition canned wine in support of the recently launched Bâtonnage mentorship program.

Nomadica, an all-female, LGBTQ+, sommelier-led wine brand, is a collection of curated wines made with grapes from responsible farms and minimal cellar intervention. Christine Olszewski, founder and CEO of Nomadica and mentor in the Bâtonnage’s Mentoring Program, deliberately chose light cans as packaging to reduce the weight of the load and therefore the carbon footprint.

The partnership’s exclusive offering is a 4-pack of sparkling rosé wines, made from 100% Pinot Noir from vineyards in Monterey County; each can is sold for $8 – 100% of the proceeds go to the mentoring program and related activities. The Bâtonnage mentoring programme aims to create opportunities for those seeking guidance, career advice and networking opportunities in five sectors (winemaking/production, viticulture, sales and marketing, retail and hospitality) within the wine industry. In the first mentoring programme of level 1, 49 mentors met over 140 mentees. Level 2 (from May 2021) and Level 3 programmes will start later this year. The success of the Level 1 programme was confirmed by feedback and testimonials from Level 1 mentors and mentees collected through an anonymous survey.
