Brunello and Super Tuscany remain key regions for Italy’s largest miniature wine producer

New York, NY (March 8, 2021) – Banfi, a leading Italian family wine producer and importer, today announced that it has appointed award-winning public relations firm Magrino PR to lead its media and brand strategy for the U.S. market.

Founded in 1919 as a wine importer in New York, Banfi is today a leading producer in Tuscany and Piedmont. It is run by third generation family owner and CEO Cristina Mariani-Mai. Throughout its history, Banfi has been committed to innovation and growth, with the goal of making great wines accessible to Americans. Today the company fulfills this mission with its farm and its jewel in the crown, Castello Banfi in Tuscany.

Banfi was built on the American dream; my grandfather founded the company to bring the flavor of his homeland and heritage to the United States. With passion and a solid vision, we returned to our roots in 1978 to make wine in Italy, explains Cristina Mariani-Mai. It certainly gave us a different perspective than that of other Italian wine producers, but for us it was an advantage and a differentiator. We are excited to partner with Magrino to tell the Banfi story and our commitment to quality, wine education and sustainability.

Castello Banfi’s core competencies include an impressive range of Brunelles from a constellation of unique vineyard sites and a series of Montalcino Supertusks that represent the highest expression of terroir. The winery has played a key role in improving the standards of Italian viticulture through research into Sangiovese clones, and continues to set new standards by adopting state-of-the-art viticultural practices and sustainability initiatives. Castello Banfi was the first winery in the world to receive international recognition from the International Organization for Standardization, based in Geneva, Switzerland, for its excellence in environmental, ethical and social responsibility.

Castello Banfi is also home to the Relais & Chateau Il Borgo and three restaurants, including La Sala dei Grappoli, which has been awarded a Michelin star. The Banfi family collaborated with the legendary Federico Forche, an Italian haute couture interior designer turned premier, to design the interior and gardens of the Hotel Il Borgo.

In addition to an exceptional range of Brunella and super Tuscan wines, Banfi concentrates on San Angelo Pinot Grigio Toscana IGT, as well as Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG and Rosa Regale Sparkling Red from Brashetto d’Aqui in Piedmont.
